Hallo FS-user,
"Fisrt of all the computer has been opened and all hardware components have been checked and tested; no hardware defect has been found though.
All tests by the engineers were done via the guest acount. If we would have had access to the administrator account; other power profiles could have been tested, but this would not have made much difference. Using another power profile might diminish the load on the CPU, so that the fan starts working a bit later, but the noise made by the fan will not diminish.
The noise your VAIO is making has been compared in a silent environment to the noise made by reference models. A program which puts load on the CPU was used to make sure the fan would start working immediately. The noise made by the fan is clearly audible in a silent room, but this is also the case with any other reference model. It can be regarded as disturbing but this is of course subjective; the noise made by the fan is not abnormal in itself. Compared to older notebook computers your VAIO is already a lot less noisy; as the fan is a mechanical part though it is impossible to make it 100% silent. There is no part which we could replace to make your VAIO more silent.
There is no other BIOS version available for your VAIO; changing the BIOS in such a way that the fan will only start working when the CPU has reached a higher temperature, as you suggested, might potentially damage the computer. If newer BIOS versions become available they can be downloaded from the support pages for your VAIO model on
www.vaio-link.com.
As there is nothing further we can do, we have decided to send back the computer. We thank you for your understanding in this matter."
So Leute,jetzt wisst ihr Bescheid!
Cheers,
